 Use standard groups in 5th edition, except for the Space/Sci-Fi Category. Use the following instead.

Transport Familiarity: Science Fiction & Space Vehicles Category

Each is 1 point, examples included for each subcategory.
If you want a more granular system, use the optional rule that each race/gov't must be purchased separately. A human Ranger might have Earth Alliance Misc. Space Transports, EA Military Capital ships, and Interstellar Alliance Capital Ships as familiarities (use the Spaceship section for race/gov't breakdown). The other option is to only break down military ships by race, and leave the rest as general categories. (This is the way the sample characters were built.)
