My Star hero (unnamed)

Hey everyone. A friend and I are working on a Star Hero campaign that would likely be considered low-tech or 'hard sci-fi'. I may be jumping the gun since, we're still in the world building process, but it can't hurt communication around here.

So far - the premise:

We're using Alpha Centauri as a colonization point of a small slice of subjugated human population. As far as I know the details of the why of the 'Departure' are as unyet decided. All I know is a fairly large group of people leave for Alpha Centauri in hopes of starting a New Life.

We're using Ramjet technology (hydrogen propulsion) so, the trip is not FTL. It'll likely take up to ten years to get the 5 light years.

The GM is using Star Hero to populate Alpha Cenaturi's Binary system (or Trinary depending on theory).

I realize this isn't very organized or filled with details. But, hopefully it can get some discussion going.

Tech will be 'believable' for current theory. Likely no 'blasters', or nanotech. Ballistic weapons and no cryogenitc sleeping. The logistics and risk involved in taking such a journey are as bad as trying to figure out the Alpha Centauri system, planets, calendar, and all. It is sort of fun though, and I'll keep you updated!

Updated Notes!

More work has been completed on New Home.

The Mayflower left the planet earth headed for Alpha Centauri in late spring of the year 2022. It had taken seven years since habitable planets were confirmed in the system by the (I forgot the name of the telescope that is being built today!). The recruiting members of the campaign felt they were being persecuted by the division of church and state in the Americas and were willing to spend millions to make it better in a new planetary system.

[The exact reasons for everyone leaving has not yet been established, but the above logic is considered a driving force.]

30 people volunteered to be the rew of the Mayflower on the suspected twenty year voyage why the rest of the population was frozen in a cryogenic state. (Yes, I realize I'd mentioned we weren't going to use this, but we changed our minds. Perogative!)

The flight was successful and the Mayflower landed in a valley between two mountain ranges just below a fork(convergence) of two major rivers on a large landmass of a temperate area. The location was near a massive forest and a few hundred miles from the coast. After preliminary sensor readings, a few native creatures were discovered consisting of four-legged marsupials, mastadon-like mammoths, and light-boned birds. Flora was certainly alien, but possibly like Earth's early eras of evolution.

The perimiter of New Home was established around the landed craft and the 'sleeping' passengers were awoken. New Home was established and time begins to pass.

Nearly 25 years later things have gone as well as can be expected. A government of sorts has been established (Representative Senate) and the colony is thriving. Industiral progress is necessarily slow and sterile, as pollution of Alpha4 is a concern. Five ranches/farms have now been established with the seeds and cryo-frozen stock brought from Earth. The population looms on nearly a thousand and crime is negligble. The economy is mostly socialistic with a bit of bertering done for some things.

Recently though, an example of uncharacteristic violence occured. One of the Militia-Men, Carson Jahns engaged in a brutal assault on Chemist Allen Montell. Apparently, the attack was a conclusion of a series of events concerning a love interest. Scout Jahns has been reprimanded and assigned Scout duties. Hopefully, this will keep him from the community at large and allow some explatory excursions needed for the Administration.

The campaign begins...

I'm playing the character Scout Carson Jahns.

Yeah, so... We only ever played this game once. While it had some good ideas, the GM wasn't keen on a lot of it.

I'm considering revisiting my Star Hero campaing setting that was created from these tiny beginnings.
